Our Story

It’s 9pm and you’re writing quotes on the back of an envelope.

You started at 5am. You just got home. You barely had time to eat before you sat down with a handful of scribbled notes and a few photos you can’t find in your phone. You’ll be at this until midnight, and it still won’t all be done. Tomorrow you get up and do it again.

Or it’s the other week — the phone isn’t ringing, and you’re doing math in your head about whether there’s enough in the account to get to the next job.

I built Contractor Autopilot for both of those weeks.

Where this comes from

I grew up in it. My parents have owned a construction company since I was six — everything from new home builds to kitchen and bath remodels. At 14 I was pouring concrete for one of their subs. At 18 I started a vehicle wrap and signage company. I sold it at 22 and moved into the auto industry, then into finance — first automotive, then RV.

I worked for some of the largest, top-performing dealers in the country. I learned a lot about sales, about customer service, about how to treat people and how not to. And I learned the software — the systems that actually make a business run.

That’s also where I hit the wall. No time. No freedom to decide what I did or when I did it. If you’ve got kids, you know exactly what I mean.

And every single day, the same problem: multiple softwares to do one job, and none of them talk to each other. Re-enter the same customer three times. Three chances to fumble a name, an address, an email, a phone number. One miss and the communication breaks — sometimes the whole job.

The more I looked, the more I saw the same thing everywhere. Great tools. One piece each. One builds your website. One documents the job. One makes quotes. One does your social. Disconnected, and expensive for what they give you.

So we built the other thing

One place where the customer flows all the way through — from finding you online, to booking, to the quote, to scheduling and running the job, to getting paid, to the reviews that bring you the next one.

That’s why our first customer said yes. Not one feature — the broad net. His quotes, his jobs, his invoices, and now his leads, all connected. One place to run the whole business, start to finish.

Why the speed of a quote matters more than you think

Think about buying a vehicle. What do you have to know before you can say yes or no? The price.

It’s the same for your customers. The price is the beginning of their decision, not the end. Once they have it, they start working through it. The longer they wait, the more doubt creeps in — and when a big number finally lands after weeks of silence, it’s easy to say no to.

Get the quote there faster and you win work you’re losing right now without ever knowing it.

Why AI

Because it does things faster and more consistently than we can — especially when you’re exhausted after a long day. The last place you want to make a mistake is on a quote. AI takes the errors out, protects your bottom line, and gives you your time back.

I’ll tell you what I won’t do

I refuse to price this like every other software company.

I’m not going to advertise the annual price as if it’s the monthly price and then tell you the monthly costs more. What you see is what you pay.

I’m not going to punish you for growing by tacking on a charge for every employee you add.

We’re a small Midwest company with Midwest values. We aren’t backed by Silicon Valley money. We don’t have investors to keep happy. We succeed when our customers succeed and tell somebody.

Where we’re headed

Our goal is to help at least 5,000 contractors change their business and their life by 2030.

But we can only help the ones who want the help. If you’re fine doing it the way you’ve always done it, we’re probably not the right fit. If you want to grow and get your time back — we’re likely a great fit.
