SMS Consent

& Opt-In

Effective Date: June 4, 2026

Last Updated: June 4, 2026

This page describes how Contractor Autopilot AI collects consent before sending SMS messages to your customers, and how recipients can opt out at any time. This information is provided for regulatory transparency and to support our A2P 10DLC messaging compliance.

HOW WE COLLECT SMS CONSENT

Contractor Autopilot AI provides AI-powered receptionist services for home service contractors. Our system uses two consent paths before any SMS message is sent:

  • Check
PATH 1 — VERBAL CONSENT DURING RECORDED CALL (Primary): When a homeowner calls a contractor's business number, our AI receptionist answers and assists with their inquiry. Before sending any text message, the AI obtains express verbal consent by reading a disclosure script. Messages are sent only after the customer verbally agrees. The recorded call serves as a verifiable consent record.
  • Check
PATH 2 — CUSTOMER-INITIATED TEXT: When a customer texts the contractor's business number first, they are opting in by initiating the conversation. The first AI reply includes required disclosures about message rates and opt-out instructions.

VERBAL CONSENT SCRIPT

During every inbound phone call, before any SMS is sent, our AI receptionist reads the following consent disclosure verbatim:

  • Check
"I'd like to send you a text message with the details we discussed. By agreeing, you consent to receive text messages from [Business Name] powered by Contractor Autopilot. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out. Would you like me to send that text?"
  • Check
The system waits for a clear verbal confirmation (e.g., "yes," "sure," "go ahead") before sending any SMS
  • Check
No message is sent without explicit agreement
  • Check
Every call is recorded and transcribed, creating a verifiable audit trail of consent

SAMPLE CALL TRANSCRIPT — CONSENT FLOW

Below is a representative example of how consent is collected during a typical call:

  • Check
AI Receptionist: "Thank you for calling North Iowa Kitchens! I'm Morgan, the AI assistant. How can I help you today?"
  • Check
Customer: "Hi, I'm looking to get an estimate for a kitchen remodel."
  • Check
AI Receptionist: "I'd be happy to help with that! I can schedule a consultation for you. We have availability this Thursday at 10 AM or Friday at 2 PM. Which works best?"
  • Check
    Customer: "Thursday at 10 works."
  • Check
AI Receptionist: "Great, I've got you down for Thursday at 10 AM. I'd like to send you a text message with the details we discussed. By agreeing, you consent to receive text messages from North Iowa Kitchens powered by Contractor Autopilot. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out. Would you like me to send that text?"
  • Check
    Customer: "Yes, please."
  • Check
AI Receptionist: "Perfect, I'll send that right over. Is there anything else I can help with?"

After this confirmation, the system sends one follow-up SMS: "Hi Joe, this is North Iowa Kitchens. As we discussed on the phone, your kitchen consultation is confirmed for Thursday at 10:00 AM. We look forward to meeting you! Reply STOP to opt out."

MESSAGE TYPES & FREQUENCY

After consent is obtained, the following types of SMS messages may be sent:

  • Check
    Appointment confirmations and reminders
  • Check
    Scheduling updates and reschedule requests
  • Check
    Quote and estimate follow-ups
  • Check
    Customer inquiry responses

Message frequency varies based on customer interactions. Typically 1–5 messages per interaction. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

OPT-OUT — HOW TO STOP MESSAGES

Recipients can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying with any of the following keywords:

  • Check
    STOP
  • Check
    CANCEL
  • Check
    END
  • Check
    QUIT
  • Check
    UNSUBSCRIBE
  • Check
    OPTOUT
  • Check
    REVOKE
  • Check
    STOPALL

When any opt-out keyword is received, the system immediately blocks all future messages to that phone number and sends a confirmation: "You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe." Opt-out processing is automatic and instantaneous. No human action is required.
