Once a business has two shops, the question “which yard is this?” comes up on every call. The wrong answer sends a truck to the wrong town and pulls material off the wrong shelf, and the right answer usually lives in one person’s head.
Calls Land On The Right Yard
Give each location its own line, or keep one number. A branch line answers the question before anyone asks; on a shared line we go by the customer we already know, then the town on their address. If we can’t tell, the call says so and one tap fixes it — we never guess.
Jobs, Appointments And Dispatch Carry The Yard
A job knows which location it runs out of, and so do its appointments and the dispatch board. Pick a location at the top of the screen and the app narrows to that yard; pick “All locations” for the whole company.
Stock Stays On Its Own Shelves
Inventory is counted per location. Stock held for a job at one yard is never offered to another, and the reorder list reminds you when a different yard already has what you need.
One Crew List, Assigned To Yards
Put each employee on the locations they work out of. People who cover two shops are entered once, not twice.
Locations And Divisions Are Separate
A division is whose books the work lands on; a location is where it runs out of. Any job can bill from any division out of any yard, and each location can have a usual division as the starting point.
